Thrips - a real attack for most garden, garden and pot crops.
Insects do not like a wet environment, so one of the effective methods of prevention is the frequent systematic spraying of plants.
If you overlook the first attack, then immediately proceed to fight.
How to get rid of thrips on houseplants
For prophylaxis:
- mandatory quarantine measures for all newbies acquired in stores and with hands;
- do not place vases of flowers from the garden next to pot plants;
- when non-characteristic yellow streaks appear on the foliage, a thorough examination of the damaged plant and neighboring.
To combat thrips use:
- insecticide spraying of not only the infected bush, but also of other members of the collection;
- wiping foliage with a cloth moistened with concentrated soap solution (followed by wiping with a clean damp cloth).
Fight and prevention on an open ground
Onion thrips able to settle only on the garden with a growing onion, but also willingly switches to different types of zucchini, pumpkin.
Preventive measures:
- crop rotation support;
- mandatory autumn digging of soil after removal of the crop;
- ten-hour holding of planting bulbs in water heated to 45 ° C, cooling in cold;
- daily keeping of planting material in a solution of sodium nitrate (2%);
- weekly drying of the harvested crop at 36-45 degrees Celsius;
- collection of residual waste and incineration.
Pea thrips preferred to eat various members of the legume family.
Control measures:
- crop rotation;
- insecticide treatment until flowering;
- collection of residues of bushes and burning;
- autumn digging.
Rosan thrips harm the bud and the green part of the bushes.
Fight insects:
- wiping the foliage with soapy water (effective in the early stages, it allows reducing the number of adult pests) - after a couple of hours, the bushes should be freed from the remnants of the solution using a shower with a hose;
- insecticide spraying;
- spraying infusions of herbs;
- removal of damaged plant parts, followed by mandatory burning;
- autumn digging.
Tobacco thrips reluctantly settled on plants subjected to systematic moisture. If it is impossible to subject the plantation to "showers" procedures, they fight insects:
- insecticide;
- settling of beneficial insects (mites phytoseiids, antocoris or bed bugs of Orius);
- following the rules of crop rotation;
- autumn plowing.

How to fight on violets

Such washing is preferable to spraying, since by immersing the whole bush in the liquid, we do not leave a single unprocessed part of the bush to the insect parasites.
The nuances of the procedure:
- before immersion in a warm solution, it is necessary to remove air foam from its surface (otherwise it dries on the leaves and they will be “decorated” with unattractive spots);
- before the “font” each bush is sent to the shower, which will wash away the dust layer on the foliage;
- before all water procedures, the soil of the pot is covered with a plastic bag / film cut;
- treated violets can not be immediately put under the lamp (you must wait until the moisture evaporates from the surface of the bushes).
How to remove orchids
Thrips on orchids clean:
- manually;
- wiping with a cloth moistened in an aqueous soap solution (after some time, be sure to repeat the procedure, replacing the solution to wet the cloth with clean water);
- spraying with a prepared or purchased insecticide (after processing, the bushes should be kept in penumbra for at least 14 days);
- a repeated course of the same therapy, replaced or combined.
Preventive measures against thrips on orchids:
- special soil sticks made from a mixture of fertilizers and substances that make the taste of plants less attractive for sucking insects;
- systematic thorough inspections of bushes;
- systematic spraying of plants with warm water (thrips do not like a wet environment);
- blue sticky hook placement.
Insecticides against thrips
Actellic - strongly smelling drug, offered in the form of a liquid, poured into ampoules. Typical proportion (1 ampoule per liter) - be sure to read the manufacturer’s recommendations before use.
Confidor - a drug to combat the larvae of thrips that have not yet emerged from the ground.
Karate - preparation for spraying (for 2, 5 liters of solution spend a quarter of one ampoule).
Malathion - for the preparation of the working solution requires 7.5 g per liter of water.
IMPORTANT! The treatment is carried out twice, repeating the measures of exposure after 7-10 days - to neutralize the hatched insects.
Folk methods of struggle
Aqueous solutions based on:
Black Tiger (Chernobrivts):
- the green mass of the plant and the buds (which can already be hung up) are placed in a container, filling up to half of the vessel;
- then pour well with warm water;
- after holding the mixture for two days, the liquid is separated and used for spraying.
Healthy Tomato Tomatoes:
- a lot of dried foliage (g 40) is poured with warm water;
- maintain 3 hours;
- The expressed fluid is diluted with a liter of pure water and a solution is obtained for spraying.
Celandine:
- a couple of bunches of blossoming celandine are poured with a liter of water;
- insist day;
- the next day the liquid is ready for use.
Thrips multiply very quickly. Therefore, having noticed that the foliage of the plants began to become covered with yellow spots by cracks, and the flowers are covered with faded patches of bleached tissue and holes with a dark halo, react immediately. When processing plants, do not disdain manual assembly of adult insects.
