Stable rich harvest every year with Tabor grapes

In addition to the time-tested varieties, in recent years, new promising hybrids of grapes are becoming more common. Such as Valery Voevoda, King of Deer or Super Extra.

One of them is the variety "Favor", which has excellent indicators of yield, size and safety of berries.

In addition, "Favor" pleases the winegrowers with an elegant type of bunches and excellent taste, while at the same time not imposing special requirements for care.

What kind is it?

Variety "Favor" - table grapes with an average ripening period. The same terms are held by Princess Olga, the Monarch and Lily of the Valley.

This hybrid form was developed relatively recently, but has already attracted the attention of many winegrowers. In private plots, Favor is grown for fresh consumption and homemade compotes. The berries of this variety are very tasty, spectacular and well preserved during transportation.

Description of the grape variety Favor

Shrubs "Favor" have a powerful force of growth. Vine very quickly grows to 3 meters in length. Dark green leaves have a three-lobed form and are strongly dissected.

Due to the rich reddish-purple color of the berries, large bunches of Favor grapes are distinguished by an appetizing and elegant look.

In shape, they are conical with an average density of fruits. Mass of bunches varies from 600 g to 1 kg, and under favorable conditions it can reach 1.5 kg.

Variety is completely not subject to polkathat is one of its merits. The same sign can boast Muscat of Hamburg, Aleshenkin Dar and Marcelo.

The weight of beautiful and large berries "Favor" - from 12 to 15 g or even more. Fruit shape is oval or oblong-oval. Pulp grapes juicy and slightly crispy. It has an average density and rather thick skin that is easily chewed. The taste of the "Favor" grape is harmonious, moderately sweet and very pleasant.

Breeding history and breeding region

The Favor grapes are the result of the painstaking work of V. N. Krainov, a famous amateur breeder from the city of Novocherkassk. The famous winegrower brought this hybrid form, crossing the Russian variety Talisman (Kesha) and Moldovan Kishmish radiant.

Among the varieties bred by the Kraynovs are known to all such as Anthony the Great, Victor or Blagovest.

The new variety is currently being tested in the south of Belarus. But despite this, has already gained an enviable popularity among growers. "Favor" has got accustomed both on personal plots, and in the farms engaged in growing grapes for sale. The variety can be found in the vineyards of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

Specifications

The variety produces stable, rich yields every year. Up to 6 kg of large berries can be harvested from only one adult bush "Favor". Minimum ripening period harvest - 125 days from the start of swelling of the kidneys, and the maximum - 135 days. Approximately the same indicators have the Gift of Magarach and the Memory of Dombkowska.

In the Rostov region, the full maturity of Favor comes in the first half of September.

Maturation of shoots the variety is good, with a fruiting ratio of 1.3. Strong-growing bushes "Favor" requires timely pruning. The optimal load is from 30 to 35 eyes on the bush.

Important to rememberthat the variety needs a long pruning of the vine, in which from 8 to 10 holes are left on the shoot.

When the weather is wet with a lot of precipitation, the grapes show some cracking of the fruit. The same deficiency can be observed in Demeter and Arcadia.

Berries can crack and in hot, dry weather. In this case, experienced gardeners are advised to constantly maintain the soil in a wet state, but without overflow.

If there is no moisture deficit in the soil of the vineyard, the berries will not crack.

"Favor" is able to withstand temperatures down to -23 ° C. However, the variety is still not well understood, so it is recommended to grow it as a covering culture.

To insulate the grapes for the winter, many winegrowers use a dry shelter. To do this, the vine is removed from the trellis, placed on wooden boards previously laid out on the ground and covered with a film, roofing felt or roofing material, to prevent drafts by sprinkling the edges with soil.

On top of the film bushes are additionally covered with insulating material. All work is carried out in dry weather.

Reference! Grapes "Favor" proved to be an excellent market variety with high transportability. When transporting its berries do not crumble, do not crumple and retain their presentation for a long time.

Diseases and pests

Variety "Favor" has an increased resistance to mildew and medium to oidium and gray rot. Therefore he needs preventive treatments. Plants are sprayed three times Bordeaux liquid: after the appearance of the first three leaves, before the beginning of flowering and at the moment when the berries have reached the size of "pea".

Some gardeners prefer stronger chemicals: Polykom, Ridomil and Kvadris. At the same time, not only bushes are sprayed, but also poles, wire and soil in the vineyard.

After treatments, the ground is mulched with straw.

Supporters of organic viticulture try to do only Bordeaux liquid, which can be alternated with a solution of ferrous sulfate.

An additional protection of grapes from oidium is the treatment of plants with a solution of manganese-acid potassium, combined with foliar nutrition with trace elements.

To do this, several crystals of potassium permanganate are added to the nutrient solution.

Another possible preventive measure against oidium is spraying the bushes with colloidal sulfur or Tiovit.

It should be said that the treatment of grapes against oidium and mildew suppress such diseases as anthracnose and fomopsis.

In too hot and humid weather, Favor may be exposed to gray rot, the causative agent of which winters under eye scales. Under suitable conditions, this fungal disease can affect the entire aboveground part of the plant. It causes the greatest harm to ripening and ripe berries.

The infected fruits are covered with a fluffy grayish bloom, then become brown in color and rot. If the infection of the bushes is insignificant, processing leaves and berries with a solution of baking soda (70-80 g per 10 l of water) or potassium iodide (2 g per 10 l of water) will help to cope with gray mold. In case of mass lesions, treatment with Topaz, Fundazol or Immunocytophyt is performed.

The following drugs help fight pests of grapes:

  1. From the grape, biennial and grape leafworm - "Inta-vir", "Kinmiks", "Lepidotsid", "Bitoksibatsillin", "Carbotsin", "Senpai", "Summi-alpha".
  2. From spider mite and grape itch - "Tiovit Jet", "Fufanol", "Neoron", "Apollo", "Kemifos", "Antiklesch", "Sulfur colloid".

The frequency and number of spraying depends on the climatic conditions and the degree of destruction of the vineyard.

All treatments must be carried out. no later than one month before harvest.

If absolutely necessary, you can use biologics, sulfur or a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

In the fight against diseases and pests of grapes, agrotechnical protection measures play a huge role:

  • timely weeding and removal of dead plant parts;
  • correct pruning and shaping of the bushes so that they receive sufficient lighting and are well ventilated;
  • watering at the root without excessive wetting of the leaves;
  • timely cleaning of fallen leaves, in which fungal spores overwinter;
  • compulsory mulching of the soil around the bushes of grapes;
  • proper feeding - plants overfed with nitrogen are most at risk of infection with fungal diseases.

One of the advantages of the Favor variety is the surprising property that it rarely attacked by wasps. The same dignity are Ideal Delight, Marcelo and Fun.

However, at the time of ripening of the crop, birds that can inflict great damage on the vineyard can be sown on sweet berries.

Ratchets, scarecrows, mirror objects, sound loudspeakers broadcasting the cries of birds of prey help scare away uninvited feathered guests.

During this period, it is advisable to stretch a metal grid over the vineyard. In the absence of such, it is possible to put special nets on the bunches, which have very well proven themselves to protect not only against birds, but also against wasps.

As you can see, Favor is worthy of becoming the favorite variety of many winegrowers. Having planted on a site "Favor", you will not regret about the choice, enjoying its tasty, bright and surprisingly large berries.
