Such cultivation is practiced in China in the Xinjiang region, where the most alkaline soil in the country is located. Statistics show that alkaline soils occupy about a third of the land resources of the Middle Kingdom, which significantly hinders the development of agriculture in this region. 
But the inhabitants of the village Keshilake claim that this is not a problem, and they grow strawberries in greenhouses. According to Zhang Ting, manager of one of the agricultural companies in Xinjiang, the main secret of high yields on such poor soil is the reduction of soil alkalinity by adding organic matter to it.
Recall that alkaline clay soil, the pH of which (> 8.5), has very few nutrients for growth and is not very beneficial for the development of agriculture.
