Grapefruit is the fruit of an evergreen tree up to 15 m high, growing in the subtropical belt. This citrus was obtained by randomly crossing other citrus fruits - pomelo and orange.It was first described in the middle of the 18th century by the botanist-priest Griffiths Hughes, who called this fruit "the forbidden fruit".
