96.5 million tons of wheat is the planned volume of wheat harvest in India. To achieve this goal, the area allocated for wheat seeding was significantly increased to 31.3 million hectares, which is even more than the average five-year figure (30.4 million hectares).
India has already been a champion in wheat production.namely in 2014, when the collection amounted to 95.8 million tons. Although, due to various problems associated with weather conditions, the last two years have been barren for this country. According to official estimates, the gross wheat harvest in 2016 was 93.5 million tons. However, some experts and investors believe that the assessment provided is greatly overestimated. According to estimates by the USDA, the Indian wheat crop was 90 million tons.
