Mikhail Pakush, head of the BIO-TRIO farm, intends to create the largest nut orchard in Ukraine. Namely, in the village of New Customs in Radivilovsky district of the Rivne region. His plans include planting trees, which will take area of 50 hectares of land.
"Ukrainian farmers are now relying mainly on wheat, milk, meat, vegetable growing. But few people pay attention to such a product as a nut. Nevertheless, it is quite popular in Europe and even scarce in quality" - explains the choice of farmers. To create such a plantation of nuts you need a lot of seedlings, the first of which (1000 pieces) were planted last year. But, this year it is planned to use 30 times more. In addition, the expansion of the plantation will be engaged annually. He prepares the saplings Michael independently, selecting only the most resistant seedlings of local walnut forms and inoculates them to cultivated varieties in the winter. It is this approach that provides the endurance of nuts and the ability to adapt to weather conditions, and the cultivated varieties - precocity. Before the first harvest you need to wait 4-5 years, and only then will the trees begin to bear fruit.
