Ukraine officially launched an international project for the development of rural areas

The launch of the USAID international project to support agricultural and rural development will contribute to integrated economic growth through the development of rural areas and the agricultural sector as a whole. The official opening of the project took place as part of a series of international forums and exhibitions, which take place from February 21 to 23 in the territory of KyivExpoPlaza. The USAID project is working to reduce barriers to business, creating better conditions for small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. Among the important tasks is to provide employment opportunities for the rural population and attractive living conditions in rural areas of Ukraine.

Also an important focus of the project is to improve the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products, the introduction of international standards of quality and safety, the access of national agricultural products to new EU export markets. In addition, the project aims to create a transparent regulatory framework for the functioning of the land market, as well as reforms that will attract funds for the modernization of land irrigation systems.

The official opening of the project was attended by US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, representatives of the Embassy of the Netherlands and Germany, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, heads of industry-specific associations and forum participants.
