Instructions to the drug "Promectin" for chickens

For the purpose of treatment and prevention of ecto- and endoparasites in poultry, the antiparasitic drug Promectin is used.

It is also effective against ticks and chicken lice. In order for the medicine to have the desired effect and not harm the bird, it is necessary to know the technology of its use and strictly adhere to it.

Description

"Promectin" is a yellow oral solution, the active ingredient of which is ivermectin. It has an antiparasitic effect on larvae and adults of roundworms, as well as ticks and lice.

Medication is active against:

  • acarosis (cnemidocoptosis, epidermoptosis, mallophagosis);
  • nematodoses (effective for all types of roundworms);
  • entomosis (chicken lice).
The drug is used for the treatment of external and internal pests, and in order to prevent from the above diseases.

pharmachologic effect

The active particle "Promectin" is ivermectin, which belongs to compounds produced by microorganisms of the type Streptomices avermitis. The volume of active ingredient per 100 ml of the drug is 1 g.

The tool has an antiparasitic effect on the larvae and sexually mature organisms of ecto-and endoparasites of the bird.

The principle of the effect of the preparation is that the active substance promotes the stimulation of the neurotransmitter inhibition of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This process eventually leads to the blocking of the transfer of impulse between the intercalary and motor excitatory neurons of the abdominal trunk of the parasite, and this, in turn, ends in the death of the pest.

Application

"Promectin" is used for the prevention and treatment of young chickens and adults with ailments caused by various parasitic forms of insects:

  • roundworms: Ascaridia spp, Capillaria spp, and Strongyloides spp;
  • ectoparasites: ticks - Dermatnyssus gallinea, Ornithodoros sylviarum, lice - Menacanthus stramineus, Menopon gallinea.

Important! During the treatment it is necessary to disinfect the house by means of acaricidal lekpreparatov.

Dosage

A single dose of medication is 1 ml. Frequency of use depends on the type of pathogen. Use the medicine to dry the bird with drinking water. To do this, the required amount of funds is mixed with of the water required for chickens throughout the day.

It is better to use the drug in the morning, and then do not give the bird water for two hours.

Important! The medicine is diluted with water immediately before feeding it to the bird.

Recommended doses

In order for the treatment to be competent, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the dosage. The dose of the drug is 1 ml per 25 kg of body weight, which is 0.4 mg ai / kg body weight.

With helminthiases, the remedy is taken once, with arachno-entomoses, twice with a break of 24 hours. With a low efficacy of treatment, the drug is given again after 15 days.

Contraindications

The medication does not have a negative impact on young and adult individuals, while complying with all recommended dosages. It has no toxic effect on the embryo. An overdose of the drug was not recorded. If you have noticed any strange reaction of the bird to the drug, then you should contact the veterinarian to protect the hens and themselves from possible consequences.

The product is toxic to fish and bees. It is forbidden to apply near reservoirs, rivers and lakes.

Warning

The drug is prepared immediately before taking. The shelf life of the finished suspension is not more than 12 hours after preparation. In the process of working with the drug a person should use personal protective equipment (gloves, glasses).

Do not use the drug at least 20 days before the laying of birds.

The drug is displayed for 8-10 days. Slaughter chickens spend no earlier than 10 days, after the introduction of the drug. In case of involuntary slaughter before the prescribed time, bird carcasses can be fed to fur-bearing animals or processed into meat and bone meal.

Storage

The shelf life of the drug in closed form is 2 years. The finished solution should be consumed within 12 hours. After the specified time, the tool is recyclable.
