“Avocados will not work!”: They did not allow a batch of exotic fruits from Poland to Ukrainian supermarkets

As the press service of State Consumer Security of Ukraine said, a batch of avocados grown in Israel and imported from Poland to Ukraine turned out to be infected with a Mediterranean fruit fly.

When conducting a phytosanitary inspection at the Zapadny customs post in the Lviv region, infected fruit was seized, and a complaint about the violation of the quality of the fetus in accordance with the requirements was sent to the Polish consumer service.

We remind you that the Mediterranean fruit fly is considered one of the most dangerous pests that damage fruit trees and make the fruits themselves unfit for further consumption.

Also, at the end of November a similar case was recorded in the Odessa seaport. In a batch of citrus fruits weighing 22.8 tons, a fruit fly from the Mediterranean was also found.
