Breeding history

The Orlovim variety was bred at the All-Russian Institute of Breeding in 1977. It was the result of Antonovka's crossing with a summer apple tree SR0523. This complex process involved Soviet scientists Z. M. Serov, E. N. Sedov, and V. V. Zhdanov.

The main advantage of this class is its winter hardiness and resistance to scab.
