Lovely and positive chickens with an important gait - breed Lohmonogaya Ushanka

Now on the poultry forums - just a big gun (or a gunny) boom. Everybody hoarsely and a broken keyboard argue about two breeds - Looshmonog Ear and Ukrainian Ear.

These are two different breeds, consonant in name. But for some reason, Lochmonogue Ushanka almost all poultry farmers consider it a "misunderstanding" and "an unhappy bird."

And why unhappy something? No one can really explain. Information about this breed is minimum. What we managed to find was all saved and processed for you.

And, having carefully analyzed all the data, I must say that the Ushanka Lohmonogaya is quite a worthy bird for the household: both as a decorative and as productive.

Breed origin

Such an unusual breed of chickens was recently bred in Russia, in the famous Sergiyev Posad VNITIP.

What breeds were used as parents, no clear information. However, along with the lochmonozhka, Oryol hens are mentioned, which have characteristic tanks above the ears and Pavlovskies, whose paws are “masked” by feather cover.

True, if we consider these two breeds to be parental, then with the color of the Lochmonog Ushanka there is a discrepancy: both the Pavlovian and Orlovsky chickens have a light (beige) color, and the lochmonog have a light brown color.

Description of earflaps Lochmonog

Earflap Lochmonogue connoisseurs of ornamental chickens are classified as cute and positive poultry. The unique exterior allows this hen to always be the center of attention.

The importance of gait, most likely, is created by feather “pants” on the paws - with additional plumage you won’t quickly run and you won’t rummage in the ground - excessive weight on feathers framing legs doesn’t make a solid chicken.

The color, which many poultry farmers call sunny and enroll in their favorite, gives the appearance of the chicken even more home and charm. Thanks to the sideburns, the head of the Ushanka Lohmonogoy looks small and neat, and the bird itself - taut, and, if you can say so in relation to the chicken, even slender.

A strong, slightly curved beak, a small crest - in the eyes of admirers of decorative qualities all this overshadows the main element - lush feathers on the feet of the hens of this breed.

Is productivity winning decorative?

Lochmonog Ushanka - chicken is not small. Even females have a substantial weight - from two and a half kilograms. Roosters weigh about 3 kilograms.

Eggs of hens lay large, up to 60 g, the shells of eggs are light brown in color, fully consistent with the color of the hens.

For the year, one hen is capable of providing 150-170 eggs to the farm, and the females start from six months old. In small farms, it was estimated that at the beginning of the egg-laying period, about 10 pullets of Lochmonog Ushanka received about seven eggs per day.

For the character - some advantages

By their behavior, the Lochmonogus Ears with a somewhat resemble a partridge.

They do not have that characteristic chicken greed for food: they don’t rush to eat, but take food slowly, intelligently and with dignity. Very calm chickens, good-natured and cute.

Even at chicken age, they behave "not childishly" judiciously and quietly, they are much quieter than other chicks.

True, this is a minus: the chickens of other breeds and strive to offend the little lochmonozhek (pinch, drive away from the feeder), so keep the young Ushanka Lochmonogoy preferably separate.

Unpretentious, with a high percentage of vitality, well, and, finally, they are just beautiful.

Content policy

In order for Lochmonog Ushanka to feel in a chicken coop, as in a comfortable apartment, it is necessary to observe temperature conditions, control the percentage of humidity, do not forget about ventilation, clean litter and the presence of lighting.

The optimum temperature for chickens is between 11 and 22 degrees.. If there are changes in temperature, the chicken organism adapts to the new climate within 3-4 days.

The dry cooling of the chickens is well tolerated, but if it lasts long in the fall, then for Lochmonog Ushanka it is better to sit out this period in the house. Cold with high humidity is very harmful for chickens and often causes disease and death of the bird.

And for lochmonog feathery rains and puddles, they can also become a serious test of decorativeness: feathers smeared with water and mud pass from the decoration to the discharge of an annoying misunderstanding.

For normal air circulation in the house, it is necessary to arrange a whole system with ventilation pipes and opening windows. Make sure that the laying for chickens always keeps dry and clean, do not allow it to mold.

Since this breed of chickens has plumage on its paws, they need more often than others to check for fleas.

Parasites are more likely to "settle" on the body of such a bird - there are so many feathers and they are placed so low, you can hide very easily and drink the blood of the unfortunate victim, starting from the extremities.

Where to buy in Russia?

Of course, it is safest to acquire a bird in places where it has been selected, where everyone knows about it - from demeanor to order feather placement and where they can professionally advise on the subject of maintenance and care.

The birthplace of the breed is the All-Russian Scientific Research Technological Institute of Poultry. Now, at its base, several subsidiaries have emerged, which, most likely, can also offer this wonderful hens to the poultry breeders - Locksmith Earflaps.

Analogs

In terms of weight, productivity, and exterior elements, Locksmith Earflaps are very similar to Oryol and Pavlovsky chickens. These two breeds we almost lost. However, thanks to the poultry enthusiasts, they are returning to poultry houses and poultry farms.

The dark Brahma chickens are one of the varieties of Bram known in Russia. You can learn about their features by clicking on the link above.

No less popular at times birds are chicken Loman Brown. About them we have a separate article, located at: //selo.guru/ptitsa/kury/porody/yaichnie/loman-braun.html.

These breeds are from old Russians. Orlovskaya celebrated its 200th anniversary not so long ago, and Pavlovskaya was not only elevated to the rank of a beauty standard, but also famous for its frost resistance. Thanks to the same notorious “feather pants”, Pavlovsky chickens are able to withstand Siberian frosts and live peacefully in unheated rooms.

The Pavlovskys differ from the Lochmonog Ushanka with higher egg production - the annual egg-laying from one layer makes up to 300 eggs.

And the Orlovka is also a tender, small-fiber meat. True, not every host will raise a hand to slaughter this amazingly beautiful bird. Here they are kept "on the eggs" and for the soul.
